The Cornwall College Group are looking for an experienced Senior Project Development Advisor to develop and deliver viable initiatives and projects

Job Description

To support the College’s strategic intent through maximising funding opportunities and ensuring projects are successfully delivered to achieve agreed objectives. The post holder will develop business cases and secure funding opportunities, which are aligned to the Colleges strategic intent. The post holder will also implement, manage and monitor performance of a portfolio of projects ensuring they are successfully delivered. The ideal candidate would have experience of working in a project environment, with a track record of developing and managing projects, monitoring project performance and managing budgets. Applicants must have good attention to detail, excellent communication and organisation skills, and the ability to prioritise workload whilst working to strict deadlines. A positive and flexible attitude with the ability to work at pace is crucial to the success of this role.

Specific duties

  • To identify, prioritise and develop projects, business plans, funding applications and tenders which support the College’s strategic aims and objectives
  • To develop internal relationships with all areas of the college to provide a responsive project development service. Promote Project Services as the conduit for all project applications, external funding and tender submissions
  • To manage the implementation of new projects providing support to operational managers
  • To project manage initiatives as required ensuring projects achieve output targets in a timely manner, to agreed quality standards and within budget
  • To review and report on live projects in order to monitor project performance
  • To prepare project performance management reports for the Head of Projects and Partnerships as required
  • To identify and escalate project risks in a timely manner
  • To develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with key strategic partners, agencies, and organisations in order to maximise the impact, benefit and value of the relationship to Cornwall College
  • To represent Cornwall College at external events and take part in relevant forums as required
  • To contribute towards the continued development of Project Services, undertaking continued professional development where required.
  • Any other duties required by the Head of Projects and Partnerships consistent with the grade and general responsibilities of the post.

Person Specification:



  • Degree/FD/HND


  • Project Management qualification/training          



  • Project development and business planning experience
  • Track record of budget management
  • Proven track record of relationship and stakeholder management
  • Experience of managing projects successfully, achieving objectives in a timely manner and to budget


  • Experience of European funding
  • Experience of partnership working
