We’re looking for a bright, enthusiastic individual, who is keen to expand their knowledge and experience in marketing. The Marketing and Communications Assistant will assist the marketing manager and liaise with a range of external agencies.

Job Description


The main purpose of this role is to support the Marketing Manager in the successful delivery of the marketing and sales strategy, providing administrative and practical marketing support, helping ensure consistent, effective, creative and timely marketing and communications that strengthen our brand and drive sales.

Marketing & Communications                                                       

  • Research and contribute to content planning and generation in line with the content strategy both on and offline
  • Provide creative input and ideas generation for the development of marketing campaigns
  • Support the creation of email marketing and deliver the regular and effective use of social media advertising and engagement, blog posts and report on activity.
  • Support relationship development with key stakeholders, relevant businesses and partners
  • Maintain an up to date and organised image gallery and log of customer testimonials for the business
  • Ensure website is kept up to date
  • Keep up to date with marketing developments, trends and opportunities for the business.
  • Keep abreast of competitors and their activities.
  • Maintain good data management processes and support the Marketing Manager to ensure these are kept up to date including regular data cleanse and audits.
  • Assist with lead management and processing
  • Attend exhibitions with the team to directly liaise with B2B customers – which will require time away from the office and some weekend work (provided as TOIL)
  • Maintain an up to date record of PR, references and clippings. Keeping copies of all advertisements, print media and marketing materials.

Essential Requirements

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience of researching, producing and sharing content across all social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Excellent IT skills including MS office suite.
  • Superb organisational and administrative skills.
  • An ability to work calmly under pressure and to stay on task in a busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, to deadlines, and in a flexible, pro-active way.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • An enthusiastic, positive and supportive attitude and a strong desire to learn.
  • Employment rights to work in the UK.
  • A full UK driving licence for attending regular trade shows.

Desirable Requirements

  • Professional experience in marketing, administration and / or communications.
  • Some formal marketing training or education
  • Experience of working in retail or the gift sector
  • Experience of e-marketing systems
  • Experience of editing websites, particularly Shopify, WordPress and Magento
  •  Attention to detail and a creative eye
  • A sense of humour.
