We are looking for a Junior Analyst to join our busy Business Analytics Team. The Business Analytics Team support all areas of the business with: accurate and timely reporting; KPI lead analytics; sales forecasts and business improvement proposals.

Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a numerate person (possibly a recent graduate from a scientific / numerate background) looking for a stepping stone into a career as an analyst. To be successful you will need to demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for working in a fast moving, challenging but equally rewarding role.

To develop your experience, you will be mentored and developed by the wider Business Analytics Team. You will be taught new skills and will be encouraged to continually learn on the job. You will be able to shadow members of the team in meetings, which will help you to improve your commercial understanding of how a retail business operates.

Key responsibilities

  • Creation and improvement of reports within our BI Reporting tool & Excel (Powerpivot) and utilising Alteryx where required
  • Manage the distribution of standard reports and alerts across the business which provide key business insights and drive action
  • Creation and management of all calculations within the BI Reporting tool
  • Train other departments on how to use the BI Reporting tool and being the front-line support for any queries
  • Ensure all reports are regularly audited against the source systems / raw data files
  • Creation and maintenance of a reports register for all standard reports
  • Creation of reporting templates
  • Responsible for cleansing data where required
  • Support other team members with analysis as required

What we're looking for

  • Qualification Requirements:
    • A-B in GCSE Maths (essential),
    • Maths/Science based A-Levels (essential),
    • A degree in a scientific / numerate subject (desirable)
  • Strong MS Excel skills; including how to create and amend a pivot table (this will be tested as part of the interview process)
  • Logical and problem solving skills with a desire to interrogate problems thoroughly
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly is essential
  • Aptitude for and experience of analysis, charting and visualisation tools / methods
  • Ability to continually challenge your methods in order to streamline your processes
  • You will be working with data from all areas of the business, so being able to multi task will be key to succeeding in the role.
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise your workload and apply good time management skills
  • A high level of self-motivation whilst remaining organised and methodical
  • Familiarity with relational databases would be beneficial, but not essential
