The College wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Prof Kevin Gaston.

Job Description


This Cornwall Council funded post is available immediately for either a period of 6 months full time or 12 months on a part time basis (a flexible working pattern can be arranged for the right candidate).

The successful applicant will assist with the scoping of a framework and methodology for the application of a Biodiversity Accounting System within the county of Cornwall. It will evaluate the potential for such a scheme, assess the strengths and weaknesses of such schemes that have been adopted in other parts of the country, and assess how these have most effectively been integrated into existing development and planning processes. In so doing, it will contribute important thinking and understanding to the delivery of Cornwall's Environmental Growth Strategy.

About you

  • Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes
  • Organise and prioritise own research work within the project framework
  • Possess good analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to liaise with colleagues and build contacts and participate in internal and external networks for the exchange of information and collaboration
  • Understand equal opportunity issues as they may impact on areas of research content
