Cornwall 365 has an exciting vacancy for a dynamic, self-starter to take on a new role managing our successful What’s On events listing business.

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Cornwall 365 What’s On Manager will take the lead in managing the day-to-day listings operations and for developing and growing the business.  The post holder will need to be a confident, sales-driven individual with excellent customer service skills who can grow advertising and partnership revenue.  They should also be a self-starter with an eye on new opportunities to expand the visibility of the Cornwall 365 brand.

This is a full time post based at Krowji.  It may be part-funded by European Structural and Investment Funds through the Cultivator Programme.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • To generate income through the sales of advertising opportunities across Cornwall 365’s online and print media, driving an increase in profit
  • To manage the relationship with advertisers - visiting them face to face and talking regularly by telephone - ensuring they are up-to-date with latest developments at Cornwall 365
  • Co-ordinate the Partnership scheme – enlisting new partners,  upselling discounted advertising,  devising bespoke packages  and keeping records of sales communications on the Customer Relationship Management System (Insightly)
  • Plan, create and schedule content for the online magazine and social media platforms
  • Oversee the quarterly print schedule– liaising with suppliers and internal colleagues to ensure high quality publication to deadline.
  • Commission and oversee updates to the website and API
  • Research and develop new income generating projects
  • Manage the C365 What’s On budget, providing accurate, timely and up-to-date forecasts of spend and income for Director and Trustee reports
  • Liaise with the Co-ordinator to ensure timely invoicing and financial records are updated and that all advertising, listings and social media commitments are fulfilled for the client

Skills and Experience - Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of sales (preferably in advertising/publishing) and of achieving and exceeding revenue targets
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to initiate and set up productive business relationships
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly in use of Windows, Excel and database software (specifically Insightly and Mailchimp)
  • Proven ability to use social media platforms effectively for marketing
  • Familiarity with simple management accounts
  • Proven experience of dealing effectively with customer enquiries

Skills and Experience - Desirable

  • Experience of managing/supervising colleagues

  • Confident and outgoing
  • Able to work on own initiative with flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and targets as part of a small team
  • Good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, including diplomacy and patience
  •  Very well organised with excellent time management skills; reliable and with the ability to self-motivate
  • Sensitivity and discretion in the workplace
  • An interest in creativity and the arts in Cornwall and an appetite to learn more

Personal Attributes - Desirable

  •  Full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use

Creative Kernow (formerly Cornwall Arts Centre Trust Ltd) is the umbrella organisation for a range of creative and cultural projects. Together we support the production, promotion and distribution of work by creative practitioners in Cornwall because we believe in creativity's transformative power and want more people to benefit from it. 

Cornwall 365 was formed as a project in 2014 to run the Arts Council England Cultural Destinations programme which connects cultural organisations and tourism businesses to promote Cornwall as a year round destination for distinctive culture.

In 2015 we purchased – an online and print listings business (previously What’s on Cornwall).  We have recently rebuilt and rebranded the printed guide and website www.cornwall365.com which promotes over 7,000 events across the region.  Over 20 partners are monthly subscribers to a package of listing benefits. 

Cornwall 365 What’s On is operated via Cornwall Arts Marketing Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Creative Kernow, but the staff work as an integral part of the Creative Kernow group.
