Cornwall Wildlife Trust is looking to recruit an approachable, versatile, and experienced Ecologist to work across a variety of nature recovery projects and initiatives.

Job Description

The Conservation Officer will work within the Conservation Section of the Trust to help deliver several key projects in line with the Trust’s Strategic Plan, through provision of expert ecological knowledge and survey skills.

This role will also involve working with the Conservation Manager in the delivery of the Local Sites (County Wildlife Sites and County Geology Sites) project and be involved in the terrestrial conservation work of the Trust.

A key part of the role is assessing sites and the habitats they contain for their wildlife value; from small Churchyards through to sites of many hectares and identifying practical and pragmatic opportunities for enhancement with their owners/managers.

There is a strong focus on non-statutory County Wildlife Sites with the chance to work on a varied mix of other projects including rewilding and species reintroductions, development planning, Biodiversity Net Gain, Geo-conservation and working with farmers and landowners.

Company Description

Cornwall Wildlife Trust is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts working across the UK. With the invaluable support of our volunteers, members and corporate supporters we manage over 50 nature reserves, including an island for wildlife and people in Cornwall. We also work with other organisations and landowners to protect and connect wildlife sites across the county and inspire local communities and young people to care for wildlife where they live.
